Self-Portraits

Continuing on from the summer assignment, you will create a series of drawings developing portrait features and compositional devices. Using photographs and mirrors, you will explore pencil drawing techniques, collage, over-painting, and acrylic to develop a series of expressive self-portraits.  You will research a portrait artist of your choice, explore the personal significance of a chosen artwork, and relate it to your own work. You’ll write reflectively throughout the assignment, give feedback to your peers about their work, and write a statement about your intentions. Finally, you’ll create a large-scale portrait or series of portraits that express that intention.
